Episode 6: High in Your Standards, High in Your Mercy – The Catholic Mama Podcast

Like many (most) moms and dads, I’m busy. I have three small children, two family businesses, a podcast, a blog, a fiction novel in process, and a freelance editing position. I make dinner nearly every night and clean my own house. I pray every morning. My husband and I like each other. I spend a lot of free time with my kids.

There’s a lot going on there. And because of this full work load and my seemingly intact pysche, I often get asked how I fit all this in. It boils down to three main cocepts:

  1. Being high in the standards to which you hold yourself.
  2. Being high in the mercy you allow yourself when you fail.
  3.  Separating the chaff from the wheat when it comes to the tasks, goals, and opportunities you dedicate yourself to.

In this episode, I discuss why we should not abandon the To Do List, how we can redefine the To Do List so that it’s infinitely more useful than a never-ending list of bullet points, and outline a basic plan to get you started.

I’d love to hear in the comments: Are you a To Do List believer or have you had enough of it?

  1. Love this! Thank you for sharing your practical insights and real life experiences in how to focus your to do list and relish in the sacred time set aside for worship, replenishment and rest. Grateful!

    1. Thanks, Katie! It seems kind of crazy that you need to plan and focus to make rest happen, but it’s certainly worth the effort.
