Ep 85: Theology of Fasting

Several years ago, my husband Pat literally wrote the book on fasting, the For Dummies book to be specific. At the time, we adhered to intermittent fasting on a regular basis but purely for physiological reasons. The research behind fasting is nearly unanimous in terms of fat loss and overall health.

But since our conversation to Catholicism, fasting took on all new meaning and substance. The spiritual underpinnings of this ancient practice are rich and quite beautiful.

So in this episode of The Catholic Mama podcast, Pat and I dive into the theology of fasting: The Catholic foundation for this practice, why we should be fasting in our modern age, and practical guidelines on how to get started.
