EP 139: Developing Your Catholic Intellectual Side with Simone Rizkallah

I’ve been a part of a couple of women’s studies at church. Parts of them have been quite helpful, actually, in helping me discern certain behavior patterns or realize how much God loves me. But so far, they’ve left me wanting something more…rigorous. Something with intellectual meat on its bones where I walked away understanding more of the fundamental truths and the historical foundations of our Catholic faith.

So I was delighted when I found out about Endow, which is a wonderful small group-style study for women on a variety of fascinating Church subjects. Starting with JPII’s writings on women through Humanae Vitae to the female Doctors of the Church, Endow doesn’t shy away from the rigorous intellectual aspects of the faith, but rather, dives right in. And it’s done beautifully. I mean, with the likes of Emily Stimpson Chapman and Claire Dwyer writing some of the studies, how could it be anything but?

And then to top it all off, Endow recently started a podcast! I love podcasts! 😉 I invited Simone Rizkallah, Director of Program Growth at Endow and host of the Endow podcast, to come on The Catholic Mama to talk about what Endow can offer, why Catholic women should tackle these rigorous intellectual aspects of Catholicism, and how to go about doing it. Plus, we chatted about our own faith journeys (Simone hails from the Eastern Rite and is an Armenian Catholic).

All in all, it was a fun episode. I really enjoyed my time with Simone, and I think you will, too. Download the episode below or listen to it on iTunesStitcherGoogle Play or anywhere you normally access podcasts. The Catholic Mama is there!

Learn more about Endow at EndowGroups.org and listen to the Endow Podcast. And be sure to catch up with Simone on her own blog culturalgypsy.com and on Instagram @culturalgypsy. Also, in the past, Simone has shared a wonderful prayer to the Holy Spirit that I’m linking to here. I highly recommend praying it!
