EP 118: Setting the Stage for Catholic Morality and Sexual Ethics – Parts I and II

One of the most misunderstood teachings of the Catholic Church in modern times is the standards she holds on sexual ethics, from the ban on birth control to gay marriage. But the Church has her reasons – very good reasons – for maintaining these teachings.

Before we can get into the specifics on the Catholic Church’s teachings on, say, natural family planning, we need to set the stage for Catholic morality, specifically through Natural Law Theory. My resident-philosopher/husband Pat joins me to do just that in this episode of The Catholic Mama podcast.

To get an accessible introduction to Natural Law Theory and Catholic morality, download Part I here, Part II here, or listen to both on iTunesStitcherGoogle Play or iHeartRadio

We also mentioned the book Right and Reason: Ethics in Theory and Practice by Fr. Austin Fagothey, which you can purchase from Amazon here.
