Don’t be fooled by the feeble old man that Saint Joseph is often portrayed as. Don’t think this is a saint, that while absent in much of the story of the life of Jesus, doesn’t have much to teach us.
Saint Joseph is the protector of the Church on Earth and the Terror of Demons. He abandoned himself entirely to the will of God and protected Jesus and Mary at their most vulnerable.
In short, this is one saint who is incredibly strong and faith-filled. He is the spiritual father we all need, especially in a culture that is increasingly hostile towards strong, faith-filled, family-oriented men.
Fr. Don Calloway, author of the book Consecration to St. Joseph, joined me recently to talk about our need of Saint Joseph in our modern age, what is so special about him, and why we should consecrate ourselves to him…ASAP.
Fr. Calloway was super fun to talk to and I learned a lot about Joseph, a saint I have, admittedly, not thought much about over my career as a Catholic.
We’ll soon be doing our own family consecration to St. Joseph. I’d love to hear if you’ve done so as well, but I can already tell, after talking to Fr. Calloway, that this consecration will be the perfect complement to our recently completed family Marian consecration as well. I’m really looking forward to it!
